Austria’s most important Danube ports are Vienna-Freudenau and Linz. Passenger ships travel along the Danube from Passau, Germany, to Vienna from the end of April to mid-October. Speedy hydrofoils offer trips from Vienna to Bratislava and Budapest in spring and summer. Many Austrian lakes are serviced by small steamboats ideal for excursions from May to September.
